Originally from the Midwest, Erika grew up paddling the Niangua River and boating in the Ozarks. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, she was inspired by Audrey Sutherland’s Paddling North and began a passionate pursuit of sea kayaking. She has since explored much of Puget Sound, developing a deep love for the dynamic coastal waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Washington Coast.

Erika has taught courses for the North Sound Sea Kayaking Association, the Mountaineers, and other organizations. She also leads the Tuesday Skills Practice series in Kitsap, where paddlers gather weekly to refine their skills and build community. As an American Canoe Association Level 3 Coastal Kayaking Instructor, Erika fosters a supportive and exploratory learning environment, helping students achieve their goals with confidence.
